Seeds for the Future is Huawei's global CSR flagship program. It is the most heavily invested CSR activity, and the company will continue to invest in the program over the long term. Initiated by Huawei in 2008, the program seeks to develop local ICT talent, enhance knowledge transfer, promote a greater understanding of and interest in the telecommunications sector, and improve and encourage regional building and participation in the digital community.
Up to the end of 2016, the program had been implemented in 96 countries and international organization worldwide, benefiting over 30,000 students from 280 universities; among them, more than 2,700 university students from have taken a study trip to the Huawei headquarters.

How it started
From research project to product
Conduct a study on the effects of using Virtual Reality within elementary school lessons.
Specifically, Virtual Reality technology has been introduced as a tool for the teacher of music education.
Try to figure out how Virtual Reality is capable of influencing learning, mood and behavior of children who use it.
Recognize whether children who have studied with Virtual Reality support have some form of advantage in terms of final test results.
A test similar to the final test is presented to evaluate students' initial knowledge. At the first lesson, we enlighten children with simple virtual exercise movement and management exercises: "Explore the Labyrinth". The aim of the setting is to allow children to get familiar with commands to overcome obstacles, approach objects, and explore the environment. Proposed hypotheses: Children are able to faithfully reconstruct the 2D map of the labyrinth explored with Virtual Reality.

INVENTbot can answer to students questions about the course, its credits, exams, modules and everything they need to know about INVENT course.
INVENTbot is based on Natural Language Processing and trained with many different facts regarding the course. Moreover, collects questions he couldn't answer in order to be trained again with a little help from humans.
Among the main functions, INVENTbot can arrange meetings for the Professor, collecting real time voting during class, sending messages to all students enrolled and performing surveys. New features are coming.

While working for PricewaterhouseCoopers I was inside the Corporate Performance Management team and the Data Analytics team. I came across many different technologies: Machine Learning, Business Intelligence software (Qlik, QlikView), SAP BPC, SAP BW, SAP DM and programming in ABAP language. Among many different projects, I designed and developed, working full-time while studying, an application, for a high-level customer, that manages how financial data is stored, updated and transferred to the Business Intelligence team. The main difficulty was to integrate two different technologies building a reliable connection and assuring the correct data transfer flow in both directions.

Today we are facing a new rising of artificial intelligence. After the black period known as AI winter, where fundings and research projects were cut off drastically as a result for a huge disappointment and criticism on this field, big tech giants such as Google, Apple, Amazon and Microsoft are addressing economic and human resources in this field. In the 70s Artificial Intelligence brought great excitement in the research world, with expectations really difficult to meet for that time considering the limited computational power and the lack of great quantities of collected data. Thanks to the modern development and easy access to high-end hardware capable of great computational power, artificial intelligence and machine learning are spreading out and new businesses are rising: as demonstrates the increasing number of startups with AI at their core.
In this thesis is firstly addressed the problem of mapping and analyzing which technologies are used by all these emerging young companies, or better which combination of technologies and applications give the best results and their impact on the field they are working on. This kind of information is really useful for venture capitalists that wants to invest on the most promising startup business or technology and, taking inspiration from the existence of databases such as CrunchBase and CB Insights, is developed a collection (database) of new and emerging artificial intelligence companies.
This new database is built using web scraping techniques combined with artificial intelligence in order to classify correctly a website belonging to an artificial intelligence company, starting from on-line news and articles about this topic. In second place, on the combination of data from CrunchBase dataset and the new dataset discussed before, is built an evaluation model with a ranking score based on artificial intelligence. This ranking score is computed taking in consideration many different important features of these companies: such as funding raised, funding rounds, employees, technology, application etc. which feed a predictive model of the startup lifespan. The outcome of this predictive model is only one of many different components that contribute to the ranking score. In conclusion are highlighted the usefulness of these informations collected in a new database for venture capitalists or even startup founders themselves, prospecting the possibility to enhance this analysis protocol for discover future new applications on AI or better scout new promising AI startups.

Eco-maps in Android: towards a child-friendly user interface for mobile devices.

THESIS - Eco-maps in Android: towards a child-friendly user interface for mobile devices.I designed and developed with my supervisor Prof. Carlo Fantozzi a part of a challenging mobile application for the National Programme P.I.P.P.I. against institutionalisation, experimented in the ten Beneficiary Cities which receive the funds allocated by Law 285/1997 (Bari, Bologna, Genoa, Florence, Milan, Naples, Palermo, Reggio Calabria, Torino, Venice), thanks to the commitment and funding of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and to the technical- scientific support of the University of Padua. The app has been presented at two international conferences (Second World Congress on Resilience in 2014, Pathways to Resilience in 2015) so far.
As part of the Institutionalisation Prevention Intervention Program (known as P. I. P. P. I.), an application has been developed for tablet devices equipped with Android operating system,"RPM-Android". This application aims to connect the social worker, parents and child, offering a valid and intuitive tool to monitor, record and collect data on the process of improving the situation of distress in which the family finds itself. Although touchscreen technology can be a very intuitive interaction tool, the software must also adapt to the type of user. In the case of a child, it will be necessary to develop an application that allows them to express with extreme ease and immediacy, reducing to a minimum the effort of understanding its functioning. In particular, it was decided to introduce in RPM-Android the possibility for the child to describe the quality of interpersonal relationships with the main formative figures through an Eco-map, i. e. the user can insert his photo in the center, choose stylized images of male or female gender and assign them: a name to distinguish them and a line of 3 different colors to determine the type of relationship that exists there. The first chapter deals entirely with the description of the P. I. P. P. I. project. and how the Eco-map represents an important part of the interaction with the child. The second chapter specifically describes the tools used to develop the application, while the third chapter is dedicated to the implementation of the Eco-map on Android platform.
